My Review on Creed 2

There hasn’t been that much boxing movies ever since Kung Fu and MMA arrived on the big screen. Rocky, Million Dollar baby, Cinderella Man, and Creed are the only “boxing films” can think of. They may not have much flashy moves like the other fight films have but they do have put a lot of heart on a fighter’s story, like this latest boxing movie, Creed 2.

Creed 2 is the sequel for Creed where we continue what we left of on Adonis Creed and Rocky Balboa, his boxing trainer. If you are not familiar with them, it’s best that you watch Rocky one to four, Rocky Balboa, and Creed so you can catch up.

It starts with Ivan Drago getting back on top of the boxing business with the help of his son, Viktor. At the same time, Adonis Creed has started winning and has become the world’s champion. Now Viktor wants to fight Adonis for revenge and for the title.

Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone did a splendid job as Adonis Creed and Rocky Balboa respectively. The friendship they have and how Rocky cares about his student works really well. One amazing feat here is the interaction between Rocky and Ivan. Even if they are way past their prime, you can still feel tense when these two talks alone. Viktor Drago is a force to be reckon with. He is tall and huge. A very formidable fighter that you’ll feel scared for Creed for getting into a fight with him.

Creed 2 shows great boxing fights. The sound when those boxing gloves hit echoes inside the cinema. You can also see the power of each punch. You can feel those strong solid punches when it hits. Kudos to the fight choreography and sound effects. It feels real like your inches away from an actual live fight.

This is a good fight film. For me, its punch is an eight out of 10 for me.
