Beauty of Maafushi, Maldives

It was on a holiday that I took my time to have a vacation on one of Maldives’ islands. That Island is called Maafushi.

This was on one of Male’s quay walls. I took this shot while waiting for my 35-min speedboat ride to Maafushi.

It took more or less of an hour from Male to Maafushi, that is, if you took a speedboat ride. It will take you hours if you opt for a regular boat ride. It costs $10 for the speedboat.

After that bumpy, or rather “wavey” ride, There it was. There’s even a sign to make sure you don’t end up on the wrong island.

The signage says it all. Kinda reminds you off the Hollywood sign but “islandy”

Once I’m there, I went to the guesthouse where I made my reservation. It was on the other side of the Island. But it wasn’t that far. According to my guide, the very accommodating representative of Velana Hotels, the island is like 50 hectares. It will only take you around 10 minutes before you reach the other side.

On my way to the Guesthouse, being an artist, some of the shops caught my eye because of their creativity.

A whole lot of greetings on one of their shops. Expressed on different languages.

Check out this really nice wall painting.

I came two hours early of my check-in but they allowed me to went in in-advance without any additional fees. Cool right?

Once you enter, you’ll notice that there’s a dining area for the guest that also serves as a restaurant for the non-guests. They call it the Kaalamaa Restaurant.

The view from the entry. There’s the beach beyond that coconut tree.

When you look out the window, you’ll see a shallow pool with fishes in it.

I left my things in my room and went outside to take some photos. I went first to the balcony upstairs which is above the resto and then outside where they have these seats for guests to relax and have a great dining experience beside the beach.

Velana Balcony. Yeah, I made it up. But it sounds cool right?

An outdoor dining table. Good for couples

Then I went beyond where I stay in and roam around the island. The island may seem to have issues on garbage disposal so I kinda took most of the photos in macro.
