My Review on Netflix’ Daredevil

Yes, I am aware that this is a TV/Web series not a movie but I can’t help but talk about how amazing this is.

Marvel’s Daredevil is a live-action series based on the comics of the same name. It is a story of Matthew Murdock. A lawyer by day and a vigilante by night. What makes him unique is that he is a blind superhero, yet he can still “see” but in a much better view.

He has heightened sense of hearing, smell and touch, filling up the void of being blind but making him such a man with a built-in radar. His heightened senses is not as outrageous as the 2003 film Daredevil (Ben Affleck as Daredevil). He does not get hurt that much to noise. I believe its like the animals that have better senses compared to us, they may flinch on some noise but not to a point where one kneels down (well, figuratively) in pain for a period of time.

The fight scenes are somewhat comparable to the movies Captain America: The Winter Soldier and The Raid: Redemption. Some say that is what The Dark Knight Trilogy suppose to look like with respect to its fight scenes.

The court scene is magnificent. It shows how good Matthew Murdock is as a lawyer. The way he spoke in-front of the judge and the jury and how he is able to see (or hear) if someone is telling the truth or not by just listening to their heartbeat or pulses. (he uses this ability both in court and interrogating thugs)

People who watched it, especially fan boys of comics, say that Charlie Cox did an amazing job as Matt and Daredevil. Vincent D’Onofrio also did an excellent job on portraying Wilson Fisk or Kingpin. The two side characters, Foggy and Karen, as to make a comic relief, didn’t went that well. I often see this as a setback on how good this series is. But they gave such support on the characterization of Matthew Murdock and to Daredevil

I’ll give this series (all 13 episodes of it) a rating of 8 out of 10. The series is great. What keeps me on giving it a higher rating is because of Foggy and Karen’s drinking scenes and I think D’Onofrio’s portrayal of Kingpin needs to be more scarier.

I still encourage everyone to watch it. By the way, It is made under Marvel Studios. So expect that we would be seeing him fighting alongside the Avengers on the near future. 🙂
