Henshin means transformation of the body in Japanese. Most of the Tokusatsu (Japanese live-action films/TV shows that has special effects) have this. Henshincon has become an event for Tokusatsu fans to enjoy.
Henshincon (Henshin Convention) was held in the fifth function hall of SMX, SM Mall of Asia. I went there together with other local artists to participate on the event. And it was such an amazing event. The booths, toys, and figures surely brought out the child in me.
Kamen(means masked in Japanese) Riders and Sentai (means squadron in Japanese) characters.
a mecha girl.
Kamen Riders with the giant Kamen Rider J.
My favorite zord. The Dragonzord of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.
Here are the artists’ booths
Alphario. Complete with its artists and cosplayers.
Vladimir Jocson and his tales.
GTMACCON artists with Eman Paelmo. Oh, There’s my comics (Sinag) on display 🙂
Ronin Panda Comics.
They also have this dance booth. It is somewhat the ones you see in Timezone and Worlds of Fun.
The event also had people that cosplayed famous characters that transforms.
Sailor Jupiter, Sailor Moon and Sailor Pluto.
Five Blue of Fiveman.
Kamen Rider Kickhopper and Kamen Rider Punchhopper.
I do not know who she’s cosplaying but she sure is lovely.
Ai Enma of Jigoku Shoujo.
Kamen Rider Amazon.
Yellow Ranger of Power Rangers Super Megaforce.
Shaider and Annie.
Even cute kids like to cosplay. White, Red, and Pink Ranger of Power Rangers Super Megaforce.
Kamen Rider Punchhopper.
Gold Ranger of Power Rangers Zeo.
Green Ranger of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.
Black, Blue, Red, and Yellow Ranger of Power Rangers Dino Thunder.
Red Ranger of Turbo Rangers.
The best part of the event was having the chance to meet and talk to the actors that played the characters of the shows I watched as a child.
Kei Shindachiya. He played as Ken Hoshikawa or Five Blue in Chikyuu Sentai Fiveman.
Ryousuke Kaizu. He played as Michael Joe or Red Mask in Laser Squadron Maskman.
They had great programs as well. The rock bands are great as they played songs of shows I grew up with.
Auctioning rare collectibles.
Ryousuke Kaizu and Kei Shindachiya joins the emcees and the crowd in a dance.
This great rock band performed the opening song of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.
Red Ranger joined in as the band performed the Opening song of Turbo Rangers.
It was an amazing event. Nostalgic. Brings out childhood memories. Every 90’s kid (like me) would love it. 🙂
